In Montana, TikTok has been deemed unlawful. Nonetheless, the app is back in the Apple and Google app stores.
Operated by the Chinese company, ByteDance, TikTok went dead for a about a day, but it was revived temporarily when President Trump extended the deadline for ByteDance to divest its ownership. The app, however, remained unavailable.
TikTok has over 170-million users in the U.S., many of whom migrated over to another source, RedNote, another Chinese social media app. At this point, nobody seems to be talking about why the app has been restored to the app stores, not from Apple nor Google, and there is no indication that ByteDance has divested itself from TikTok.
All this began when many states, including Montana, became concerned that ByteDance might be colluding with the Chinese Community Party, collecting information on Americans using the app.
