You may have noticed a lot of emergency vehicles–running with their red and blues and going fast Saturday afternoon. They were headed to the Ferndale area where a suspicious explosive device was found. The device was first reported around 2;30 Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Hwy 209 and Ferndale Drive. The Flathead County Office of Emergency Services advised people in the area to “Shelter in Place”.
As first responders cleared the area, Sheriff Brian Heino requested help from the Missoula County Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team. By 6:00 that night, the device was determined to not be a threat.
