Traffic on the upper reaches of the Going to the Sun Road came to a standstill Sunday afternoon when rock from up-above crashed through the roof of a vehicle. It happened along the Rimrocks section just below the summit.
Injuries to one of the passengers were serious enough to bring-in the ALERT helicopter. Advanced Life Support specialists from Logan Health onboard treated the victim on-site, then flew off to the E-R in Kalispell.
The Going to the Sun Road was shutdown for a couple of hours between Big Bend and the Summit. Someone posted a social media video of the ALERT helicopter landing on the Going to the Sun Roadway. We have information on the condition or the identity of the victim.
