At Monday night’s Kalispell City Council Work Session, the council decided to continue discussions on creating an Affordable Housing & Homeless Advisory Committee. Mayor Ryan Hunter (pictured) asked the Council to consider facilitating the Committee to give input to staff as they conduct the study using a 3-year old HUD grant.
Council Member Wes Walker noted that it’s the City’s responsibility to facilitate discussions with the various non-profit groups dedicated to affordable housing and homelessness.
On another topic, the Council seems ready to develop some standards for building along the Parkline Trail. The Mayor wants to see a combination of commercial and residential entities along the trail, creating what he’s been calling a “more walkable downtown”.
Work sessions are open discussions between Council, City Staff and interested citizens. The are, oftentimes, planning sessions for upcoming council actions, but no official actions are taken at work sessions.
Mayor Ryan Hunter guests on Friday’s Glacier Banks Community Conversations at 7:20.
