Two Mile Bridge Repairs Approved

The Two Mile Drive bridge over the Hwy 93 Bypass is scheduled to be repaired early next year. As it stands now, the bridge is a one-lane affair with 2-way traffic signals with weight restrictions.

It was last November when an LHC truck with an Excavator on-board, struck the Two Mile Drive bridge, causing some serious damage to several bridge girders. LHC has taken responsibility and will be a part of the plans to repair the bridge. The County has accepted LHC’s insurance payment, so repairs can begin.

The situation became a bit dicey while determining who has jurisdiction over the bridge. It’s a County bridge–built by the State department of Transportation with approaches Kalispell city streets.

All that’s behind us now, and County Public Works Dir. Dave Prunty tells us when the repair work begins, the bridge will be closed and the Bypass will be reduced to 2-lanes…one northbound and one southbound.
