Buttigieg Packs The House In Butte

He spoke for just an hour, but to the 1,200 people who waiting in line at the Mother Lode Theater in Butte, the energy to change politics in Montana came through. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told the crowd, “Our system is broken. The question isn’t that it’s failing–it’s why we keep acting like it isn’t.”

Transparent Elections Initiative lead organizer Jeff Mangan, tells us upwards of 3,500 people from all over the state RSVP’d the event in just the 3-weeks prior to Buttigieg’s appearance in Butte.

Buttigieg wonders why there’s not more congressional action on the inflationary effects of tariffs on grocer prices and medical costs. Then he drops the bomb: these problems, he says, have been back-burnered by Congress focused more on keeping political contral than addressing voter concerns. He indicates that–though no panacea, passage of I-194 will go along ways towards getting Congress’ attention focused on what voters want.

Montana Plan Founder Jeff Mangan joins us at 8:10 Wednesday morning on the KGEZ Good Morning Show.
