Butte Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester has to deliver news no parent wants to hear. The 13-year old boy, who was thrown from the Yo Yo ride at the Butte Civic Center, has died. After being airlifted to Logan Health Medical Center on June 7th, we’re told he died Sunday night. He name is not being released at this time.
Butte Silver Bow Sheriff’s investigators continue to try to determine precisely what happened when the boy was thrown from the Yo Yo . According to the Montana Standard newspaper in Butte, this attraction has a “spotty safety record”.
We’re told the ride lifts chairs, on a chain, up to 30-feet above the ground. Manufactured by Kansas-based Chance Rides, but apparently, there are other manufacturers and investigators aren’t sure who built this particular Yo Yo ride. Apparently, there have been similar incidents like this over the past 25-years.
This particular Yo Yo ride remains at the Butte Civic Center where, Sheriff Lester says it’ll remain secured until their investigation is complete. It’s next scheduled move was to Livingston.
