Glacier Park International Airport Gets New Runway Surface

Travel into and out of Glacier Park International Airport will be abbreviated beginning Monday, July 6th. That’s when construction crews will descend on the main runway for a massive repaving project.

Appearing on the KGEZ Good Morning Show, Airport Dir. Rob Ratkowski explains why we’re doing this…and doing it now.  He tells us the temperature needs to be above 50-degrees and no rain throughout the project.  The only time that happens in NW Montana is in July and August.

So here’s how it’s going to work: The airport will essentially be shut-down from 6PM Monday thru 10AM Friday. Outside of those hours, flights will be arriving weekends, as usual. Ratkowski tells us the expect to be operating at 60% capacity until the project is finish, which should take 4-weeks.
