Glacier Park International Airport Runway – Week #1

Travel into and out of Glacier Park International Airport is abbreviated this month as construction crews descend on the main runway for a massive re-paving project.

Airport Manager Rob Ratkowski tells us they made great progress this week–enough so that they could reopen the runway earlier today than the scheduled 10:00 this morning.

Flights will be arriving and departing through 6:00 Monday night. Then, it’s back to the same schedule for another 3-weeks.

Ratkowski tells us that, in this first week, they demolished 10,000 square yards of existing pavement, placed about 14,500 tons of new asphalt.

As part of the project, several runway weather information system sensors were replaced, along with cable pathways to support runway lighting and communication systems.

The airport closes again Monday night at 6:00, reopening next Friday morning at 10:00.
